Looking for advice on reinventing our surrealism-inspired bar/pub project with live shows

Hey everyone,

My team and I are currently working on redesigning a bar/pub concept that blends surrealism with live performance — think a space where the line between dream and reality blurs, and every detail contributes to a slightly “off” but intriguing atmosphere.

We’re now at a stage where we want to refresh and reinvent the concept, and I’d love to get some feedback or inspiration from people who’ve worked on similar experiential or themed spaces.

Specifically, I’d love to hear your thoughts on: • Materials: What kind of finishes or textures could evoke surrealism without making the space feel too chaotic or theatrical? • Lighting and spatial design: How could we play with perspective, mirrors, or color to create a subtle sense of unreality? • References: Any existing bars, installations, or design projects that successfully balance surrealism with functionality and comfort?

We want the result to feel immersive but still welcoming — not like a movie set, but like a real place where people want to hang out.

Any advice, references, or even critique is more than welcome.

Thanks in advance!
