Chair model tested: Knoll Willo Perron Bun Chair
The details: Even if you think you’re unfamiliar with Willo Perron, chances are you’ve seen some of his work in the music and culture space: He’s directed music videos for the likes of St. Vincent and helped bring Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter and Rihanna’s AntiWorld tour sets to life. The man really knows a thing or two about creating memorable visuals. So, when the designer transitioned into designing seating, collaborating with brands like Knoll and BD Barcelona Design, the rest of us perked up. This lounge chair and ottoman is just one component of a soft seating collection Perron designed for Knoll, and it comes with a puckered design that draws you into its center like a puffy donut, cradles you like a baby, and sits on even-keeled legs that make the whole thing feel like a cloud floating on air.
Inside the Article
Before Delivery
How much does it cost? Are there payment plans available?
The Bun is currently on sale for 20% off, but typically it runs just shy of $6,000 so let’s just say it’s an investment piece. It’s an exclusive to DWR, which does offer flexible payment plans through Affirm if you want to shell out for this in small chunks.
What are the upholstery options?
It comes in five different upholstery styles and dozens of colorways, as I mentioned before, but curly boucle-like options to tougher tweed-like fabrics that look like they’d have a hefty rub count.
What is the lead time for delivery?
Current lead times for delivery are pretty far out there—19 weeks at the moment—but we’d venture to say that this seat is well worth the wait.

Is it durable and practical in a modern home?
I wouldn’t consider soft fabrics, especially ones in white or cream, terribly practical for home with pets or children, but when you’re dropping $6,000 on something like this, you’re not exactly thinking of practical value. Thankfully, the Bun comes in many other darker colorways so you can at least mask that spill or stain, and we have a feeling you’d be able to spot treat the hardier fabrics without leaving a mark.
Do the photos do this product justice? Was there anything you were surprised to see IRL?
The photos sell this chair really well! It looks just as cute-as-a-button on the page as it does when you’re curled up in it. I thought the set (it came to our offices with the corresponding ottoman) would be slightly smaller in person, so I’d suggest measuring to ensure that it will fit your space if you live in a more cramped home or apartment.
Is this chair suitable for particular decor styles, and if so, which?
I could definitely see this is in the kind of home that’s not afraid to be playful and irreverent, seeing as the chair is shaped like a puffy appetizer. The modern rounded lines and chubby fill of the seat feels like a natural progression from the bean bag chairs of yore, so I could picture it in a celebrity child’s playroom or a very grownup adult’s entertainment room. Just imagine gaming while perched on it or settling in for a movie—it would easily be the best seat in the house.
Sit Test

The chair is, to put it lightly, wildly comfortable. The AD team tested it in the Condé Nast offices, where it attracted plenty of admirers among our fellow staffers. Everyone who came by to sit on it remarked on just how cushy and comfy it was, with some of our team spending hours working there. Something I love about the seat is just how big it is, too, with room for two people on it at one time. See the pictures for a reference (I look practically swallowed up in the chair).
